Neighbourhood Partnership

The Neighbourhood Partnerships website - http://www.edinburghnp.org.uk/ has lots of information about all the neighbourhood partnerships in the city. Click on South Central for detailed information on our local NP, its activities and meetings.

Morningside CC lies within the city's Meadows/Morninside ward, which also includes Marchmont/Sciennes and Merchiston CCs and part of Tollcross CC. South Central NP is made up of Meadows/Morningside ward together with the neighbouring ward of Southside/Newington. The NP has an office at 40 Captain's Road, EH17 8QF, tel 0131 529 5151 with its own staff team headed by Neighbourhood Manager,Susan Bruce. Email address is southteam@edinburgh.gov.uk.

Local affairs are managed at this local level, and that includes the environment (roads, parks, cleansing, etc), community safety, children and families (youth projects etc). For a complete list of the staff at the local office, with their responsibilities and contact details, click here.

It is called a Partnership because along with local councillors are nominees from community councils, the police, the voluntary sector, the health service and other key bodies , taking real decisions with a real budget to implement them. A Community Plan has been drawn up for the neighbourhood and Sub-groups for a variety of specific topicshave been set up and are taking forward the implementation of the Plan.

The Partnership holds regular meetings where the Councillors and all the nominated members discuss local topics and take decisions. These meetings are open to the public, and there is a surgery for an hour beforehand where individuals may raise particular issues with a city official or Councillor. Dates of future meeting together with agendas, minutes and other papers are on the NP website (see top of this page), and also on Council Papers On-Line.

Morningside Community Council's nominated member on the Neighbourhood partnership is Jean Thompson.
